Albertsons Members: What's in store for Albertsons after the recent sale to Cerberus

RE: SALE OF ALBERTSONS TO CERBERUS
FROM: PRESIDENT LARRY HALL
For Local 1439’s many Albertsons members the sale of their company to Cerberus is probably scary and maybe somewhat of a relief. The company has gone through a lot of changes over the last five or six years, CEOs have come and gone and the company has now been sold two times. Their grocery pricing philosophy has changed several times, leaving both customers and employees somewhat confused. Sales and hours have gone down which has been concerning to most of the people working at Albertsons.
Your Union officers are cautiously optimistic about the reuniting of New Albertsons, Inc. and Albertsons LLC under one operator. If your Union contract is unexpired, you will continue to work under that contract. Albertsons LLC has prospered under the management and sales philosophy of their owners and we expect to see that continue with the Albertsons stores that they have recently acquired. We believe Albertsons LLC’s style of aggressive pricing and increasing service by adding hours will revitalize the Albertsons stores in the Northwest.
We encourage you to stay informed and if you have any questions or problems, be sure to address them at your monthly or quarterly membership meetings or give us a call at 1-800-359-1439.
In solidarity,
Larry Hall
President
